Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Petit Manseng is a white wine grape that originates in the Jurancon (Jur-an-son) region of
southwestern France, where it is highly regarded. Wines made from this variety in Jurancon are
typically of exceptionally high quality and can be very aromatic suggestive of tropical fruits such as
pineapple, passion fruit, mango, apricot and candied citrus fruits. The grape has a loose cluster and
thick skin which is perfect to combat disease and rot issues normally found in humid conditions like
those found in Virginia. Here at Merrie Mill our Petit Manseng is featured in the view from the
tasting room.
This wine is a higher acid wine, it has nuances of toasted coconut, fresh almond, subtle pear and
papaya dance in the aroma. The palate shows off one of the strengths of Petit Manseng, which is a
beautiful acid quality that clearly articulates a fresh fig and quince paste as well as a light spice. The
wine’s balance is delicate yet fresh and enjoyable
